The Vice President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka
who also is the founder and the patron of the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation launched a youth mentorship program 22nd August 2009
at the Foundation gardens. The program is made to impart leadership skills into the youth including the beneficiaries of the Foundation scholarships. The patron said that the Foundation will be keen to nurture the youth into responsible leadership at various levels including corporate, public service and religious sectors. The program targets over 1,000 p
ast and present beneficiaries of the Foundation scholarships and other interested youth in the country.
During the program the event the patron also launched computer-fitted bus, a project done in collaboration with Craft Silicon Foundation, which will be used in the slums to offer mobile ICT services to the poor students in the country. Those who benefited from the Foundation bursary fund in the past are now working in various public and private institutions. Currently, the Foundation is supporting students in high schools and mobilizes university and colleges scholarships which are then awarded to needy students countrywide. Some of the students are studying in Mangu, Alliance Boys and Girls, Nairobi School , Limuru Girls, Lenana Boys and Starehe Boys.
Present at the function were: H.E. Mrs. Pauline Kalonzo Musyoka, Hon. Prof. Philip Kaloki, Gideon Mulyungi and Permanent Secretary Dr. Chweya among otthers.
Dr. Chweya was the Guest speaker who was excited by the noble work the Foundation was doing to positively transforming lives countrywide. He challenged like-minded organizations and individuals to joins hands in changing human lives.
The Foundation will be hosting the mentorship program every year in August during the holidays. Therefore all interested youth in the country in high schools, colleges and universities are invited. The Foundation launched the Foundation Alumni Chapter for the past beneficiaries of the Foundation bursary fund. The Alumni Chapter was requested to support other students who are seeking sponsorship through the Foundation by making some donations for the students.
