Early in his Public and Political life, Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka dreamt of setting up a Foundation to help communities in their quest to improve their lot.
The Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation {KMF} was officially launched in January 2006. The KMF is an organization dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life for all, alleviation of all forms of suffering and the promotion of justice, peace and democracy. Its main objectives are: strengthening of democratic values, poverty reduction, promotion of peace and reconciliation, support for community developmental initiatives, improvement of public health and promotion of the same, support for education, and support for the preservation of culture.
The objectives resonate well with the vision, values and commitment of the Foundation’s Patron, Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, the Member of Parliament for Mwingi North and long-serving Government Minister.

PATRON’S WELCOME MESSAGE |
 |
|
I am delighted to present to you this brief message about The Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation (KMF). The “Visioning” process for the Foundation began in my mind, appropriately, with the sounds of desperation from needy communities in different parts of Kenya and the region.
My upbringing in a remote, underdeveloped semi-arid region of Kenya, and my long experience in Public life, gave me first hand experience of the ravages of famine. Our historical records and early development plans defined the war against poverty, ignorance and disease as the elemental trigger points in our search for dignified and wholesome living. The three social ill remain important reference points in the search for answers to how best to promote peaceful co-existence among all people while alleviating the human suffering.
After launching the Foundation in 2006, opinions were sought from intellectuals, philosophers, students, representatives of communities, activists, international agencies and business persons to wrangle with the notion of efficiency and effectiveness in the addressing the main objectives of the Foundation that remain: strengthening of democratic values, poverty reduction, peace & reconciliation, support for community development initiatives, support to health care/facilities, support for education, and support for the preservation of culture.
